Uthra Sankaran has been training in Bharatanatyam for over two decades under Guru Smt. Shobana Bhalchandra at Tharanginee School of Bharatanatyam, Chennai, and further honed her technique under Smt. Karuna Sagari of Bhakti Nātya Niketan, Coimbatore.
Alongside dance, she is a trained Carnatic vocalist, having studied with Smt. Nirmala Srinivasan in Coimbatore and currently continuing under Smt. Uma Kumar at Ragamalika School of Music, Switzerland. Her parallel interest in theatre includes acting and workshops with Upstart Entertainment, Basel.
In 2020, she launched Kavin Nātyam, a creative initiative dedicated to teaching Bharatanatyam, exploring and presenting classical arts in fresh and meaningful ways.

Toured seven cities with a team of 10 dancers for the ( ICCR ) Indian Council of Cultural Relations, India in December 2013.

Thematic solo presentation for FIFA - U-17 Women’s World Cup, India Chapter, in Bern, in the presence of Mr. Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA, December 2020.

Performed and elaborately presented a research piece, on Nāyikas ( heroine classification ) in Indian dance, for the Swiss Nātya Sabha Symposium, in Zurich, September 2021.

Opening performance at the Swiss Indian Chamber of Commerce, Young Professionals Network event in Basel in the presence of His Excellency Ambassador, PR Indra Mani Pandey, Basel, November 2021.

Performed in the prestigious event of celebrating 50 years of friendship between India and Bangladesh, by the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh and India to the UN, Geneva. December 2021.
